🌟 Kaalassic (Events) Presents: Matariki Celebration 2026 🌟
What the event is
A full-day community celebration of Matariki — the Māori New Year — right here in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. A welcoming, inclusive space to honour cultural renewal, reflection, gratitude, and new beginnings, drawing from Māori and Pacific traditions while embracing everyone who calls the Goldfields home.
The Purpose
To gather people under the winter stars for shared stories, genuine connection, laughter, and a deep sense of belonging. In a fast-moving world, this day is about pausing to celebrate what truly matters: the people beside us, the land we stand on, and the hope that comes with each new cycle.
What we want to achieve
Strengthen our local community bonds in the red dirt. Give families (especially the kids) a joyful, meaningful day filled with fun, learning, and togetherness. Establish Kaalassic Events as a trusted hub for heart-centred, inclusive gatherings in the Goldfields — starting small and local, growing through real community support and momentum.

What the day could include
Morning to afternoon: cultural workshops, kai sharing, kids’ games and crafts, live music and dance, storytelling moments, face painting, food stalls
Evening: special feast, guest performances, hosted storytelling segments, visual projections of Goldfields landscapes and community memories
